Nothing can hold the interest of viewers of art in quite the same way as the expression of the human face and form, except perhaps, the human’s pets.
I’ve been painting portraits and figures since I
first put brush to canvas. Nothing has
intrigued me as much as the human face and form. I am inspired by the model or sitter and by
the musical rhythm and personality they radiate. By using paint and emotion
together, I am attempting to infuse feeling and artistic expression into my
paintings. Although I have painted in a
traditional style from the start, I am trying to bring my imagination and
vision into the 21st century.
Pastels bring the most immediate freeing of my visual expression, but
oils allow me the opportunity to dig more deeply and translate the immediate
vision in to one that feels of historic and weighty significance.
